the essential Between Carcassonne, Toulouse, Paris, Nîmes and New York, the Audois group MAN & The Maniacs formed by the Franco-American singer Marina Anne Nolles is releasing a first eponymous album today, to discover digitally on all platforms.
Celestial union against the backdrop of the seventies
If he was a woman until then, MAN is now a group with the Maniacs, three high-flying musicians with whom the artist shares the same taste for the seventies, blues, soul, R’n’B. and … clothes. But much more than that still: their union, which we will dare to describe as celestial, was made in favor (yes) of the first confinement, at the full gallop of the pandemic. “Dazzling”, in MAN’s words, she gave birth to MAN & The Maniacs, an eponymous debut album that is worth its weight in vaccines. And one pricks oneself willingly, as much as with pleasure, to listen to his nine brand new titles, without contraindication or maximum dose.
Protest pop and voodoo rock
Around the singer-songwriter, Elodie Longuemart (drums), Arnaud Beyney (guitars) and Romain Thorel (keyboards, horn) – did you say horn? – sublimate in harmony the eloquent texts of Marina Anne Nolles. Velvet voices on fakir carpet, voodoo rock on protest pop, MAN & The Maniacs speak of pollution, male domination and change. But above all, from ethereal beaches to psychedelic outbreaks, his music transports, it carpools.
