The American social network Instagram announced yesterday that it will now ask its users for their date of birth. Specializing in the sharing of photos and videos, the Facebook subsidiary intends to protect the youngest Internet users.
In a message published online to all users, Instagram announced that he will use the date of birth to “ensure that we bring experiences appropriate to the correct age group.” Already, in July, the social network announced that the accounts of its users under the age of sixteen would by default be configured in “private” mode when they register. The US Congress has pointed out Instagram’s failure to protect children in the past.
