Brazil: Bolsonaro says he's hiding to cry in the toilet

the essential Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, whose popularity is at its lowest, has revealed that he often cries “alone in the toilet” when making difficult decisions.

“How many times have I cried alone in the toilet at home?”, Confided the president of the extreme right Thursday evening, during a conference intended for an audience of evangelical faith.

“My wife has never seen that, she thinks I’m a tough guy. She’s not entirely wrong,” he added, eliciting many laughs from the audience.
Resuming a more serious tone, he continued: “It’s not like when I was a deputy, (…) if I make a bad decision , that can hurt a lot of people “.

Badly placed for the presidential election in 2022

President Bolsonaro is living one of the most delicate moments of his mandate, which began in January 2019.

His approval rating dropped to 000%, the lowest since taking office, with a covid pandemic that has made more than 600 000 dead, rampant inflation and high unemployment.

The polls show him largely the loser in the face of his pet peeve, the left-wing ex-president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, for the October presidential election 2022.

Next week, a Senate commission of inquiry is due to issue a report incriminating Mr. Bolsonaro and several members of his administration for handling the coronavirus pandemic.
